Women’s Basketball Takes Down No. 13 Southwestern Oklahoma State

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The East Central University women's basketball team picked up an 85-75 road victory over No. 13 Southwestern Oklahoma State at the Pioneer Cellular Events Center.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter:15-21
    • The teams traded the first two shots before the Bulldogs (6-1, 6-1 GAC) went on a 6-0 run, to take control over the first 3:30 minutes
    • The Tigers (5-1, 5-1 GAC) trailed 10-18, with 2:14 left
    • ECU followed with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to three over the next minutes
  • 2nd Quarter: 23-17 (38-38)
    • SWOSU kept a five-point advantage for the first two minutes (19-24)
    • The Tigers then started another push and got within one (25-26), over the next three minutes
    • The Bulldogs countered with a 9-0 run, to push the lead back to double-digits (25-35)
    • ECU continued to fight and cut the deficit to two (34-36), with 1:24 left in the half
    • The teams traded points in the remaining time in the stanza
  • 3rd Quarter: 22-13 (60-51)
    • The Tigers came out firing in the second half, going on an 8-2 run in the first three minutes and gained their first lead of the game
    • ECU kept fighting and pushed the lead to as many as 10 (54-44), with 2:30 left
    • The teams traded small runs through the rest of the quarter
  • 4th Quarter: 25-24 (85-75)
    • The Tigers kept the lead between 6-10 points for most of the stanza
    • In the final 1:30 minutes ECU got all its points at the free-throw line
      • Went 7-of-10 at the charity stripe
      • Only allowed SWOSU to score seven points
