Women’s Basketball Pushes Win Streak to Six

ADA, Okla. – With a win over arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State, the East Central University women's basketball team moved its winning streak to six games.  The Tigers (6-1, 6-1 GAC) defeated the Savage Storm (4-4, 4-4 GAC) 62-49 in Great American Conference action at the Kerr Activities Center.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter: 9-8
    • ECU opened the game with a 7-0 run in the first 3:30
    • SEOSU then countered with a 6-0 run over the next 4:30 minutes to get within one (7-6)
    • The teams traded shots the rest of the stanza
  • 2nd Quarter: 22-14 (31-22)
    • The score toggled back-and-forth for the first 5 minutes
      • Five tie scores, final at 21 with 5:13 left to play
    • The Tigers then used a 10-1 run to end the half to take control
  • 3rd Quarter: 16-14 (47-36)
    • The Savage Storm opened the half on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to three (31-28)
    • ECU fought back with a 9-0 run over the next two minutes to push the lead back to double digits (40-28)

    • The final stanza started off slow, with just two points scored by ECU in the first 3:30 minutes
    • The Tigers kept the lead around 10 for the rest of the game
      • Pushed the advantage to as many as 16
