Women’s Basketball Runs Over St. Mary’s

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The East Central University women's basketball team faced St. Mary's for the first time since 2016 and came away with a clear victory, 81-50, in its opening game of the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter: 27-8
    • The Tigers (3-0) hit a three 18 seconds into the game and never trailed from that point forward
    • The Rattlers (0-6) got a jumper 20 second later to have their closest disadvantage
    • ECU went on a 13-0 run over the next four minutes
    • The Tigers kept up the pressure and increased the lead to 19 at the end of the stanza
  • 2nd Quarter: 19-8 (46-16)
    • ECU kept the pedal on the gas and got the lead to 22, just 17 seconds into the quarter
    • The Tigers got the lead to 30 points for the first time, with four minutes remaining in the half
  • 3rd Quarter: 18-21 (64-37)
    • The quarter was a closer battle, with the lead around 30 points for most of the time

    • ECU used a 10-0 run in the first five minutes to push the lead to as many as 34
