Volleyball Falls in Four to No. 23 Oklahoma Baptist

ADA, Okla. – For the second week in a row, the East Central University volleyball team faced a ranked opponent at the Kerr Activities Center, falling to No. 23 Oklahoma Baptist, 3-1 (26-28, 15-25, 25-12, 19-25).

Scoring
  • Set 1: 26-28
    • The Bison (3-0, 3-0 GAC) opened the match with a 4-1 run
    • The Tigers (1-3, 1-3 GAC) fought back to tie the set at four
    • The teams traded runs until ECU had a 10-8 advantage
    • The Tigers kept up the pressure and increased the lead to eight (22-14)
    • OBU then started a come-back, with a 5-0 run, to get within three (22-19)
    • The set remained close and ties were forced at 24, 25,26 to force the extra points
    • The Bison earned the needed two-point lead to take the set
  • Set 2: 15-25
    • ECU started out with a 5-1 deficit and could not get control of the set
    • OBU kept up the pressure and led by as many as 11
  • Set 3: 25-12
    • The Tigers fell behind 0-3 early, but battled back to tie the set at three
    • The teams traded the next two serves before a 10-3 run by ECU gave them the advantage
    • The Tigers kept pushing as increased the lead to as many as 14
  • Set 4: 19-25
    • The teams battled close, with several tie scores to 9-all
    • ECU then took control with a 5-1 run (14-10)
    • The Bison fought back and got within one (14-13)
    • The Tigers increased the lead to three and then the close fight resumed
    • OBU kept up the pressure and tied the set at 18
    • The Bison then went on a 7-1 run to finish the set
