BETHANY, Okla. – For the first time in the all-time series, the East Central University volleyball team swept the yearly series with Southern Nazarene, picking up a come-from behind, 3-2 (21-25, 15-25, 25-17, 25-19, 15-13) victory on the road.
Scoring
- Set 1: 21-25
- The teams traded small runs and points throughout the set
- No team led by more than three points until late when the Crimson Storm (3-6, 3-5 GAC) pushed their advantage to four
- The Tigers (3-4, 3-4 GAC) fought back and tied the set at 21
- SNU then took control and used a 4-0 run to take the win
- Set 2: 15-25
- The teams traded the first 12 serves before either team could get a lead larger than two
- The Crimson Storm then started to pull away
- Kept pushing the tempo to lead by as many as 10
- Set 3: 25-17
- The teams battled back-and-forth through the first 10 serves
- ECU then used a 4-1 run to take control for good
- SNU fought back within one, but that was as close as they would get through the set
- The Tigers lead by as many as eight
- Set 4: 25-19
- The battled resumed at the start of the fourth set, 8-8 tie
- The Tigers were the first to get a lead larger than two and held onto it through the rest of the set
- Both teams traded small runs on serves, but ECU did not give up the advantage
- The Tigers used a final 3-0 run to take the win and force the fifth set
- Set 5: 15-13
- The Crimson Storm took the first advantage, going up 7-3
- ECU fought back and used a 7-3 run to tie the set at 10
- The teams traded the next four serves, for a 12-all tie
- The Tigers took the next two points
