Volleyball Battles with UCO in 2021 Home Opening Match

ADA, Okla. – For the first time this week, the East Central University volleyball team battled with the University of Central Oklahoma, falling 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-19) to the Bronchos (2-0) in the opening match of the 2021 season at the Kerr Activities Center.

Scoring
  • Set 1: 25-23
    • The Tigers (0-5) opened the match with a 5-2 run
    • ECU kept pushing and increased the lead to as many as six (12-6)
    • UCO then pushed back with a 5-0 run to get within one (12-11) and then tie the set at 13
    • The teams traded serves until the set was tied at 18
    • ECU then used a 2-0 run to take the lead for good
      • Kept the advantage between one or two points
  • Set 2: 18-25
    • The teams traded runs through the start of the set for ties at 3, 8, 10, 11 and 12
    • The Bronchos then used a 4-0 run to take control for the rest of the set
  • Set 3: 17-25
    • UCO jumped out to an early 5-0 advantage
    • The teams battled through the next few points until a 4-1 run by the Tigers got ECU within one (11-10)
    • The teams traded the next four serves until a 5-0 run by the Bronchos gave then the advantage for good
  • Set 4: 19-25
    • UCO again gained an early 4-1 advantage
    • Never allowed the Tigers to get closer than two the rest of the set
    • ECU used a late 6-0 lead to cut the deficit from nine (22-13) to three (22-19)
