Women’s Basketball Wins Fourth-Straight

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The East Central University women's basketball team picked up its fourth-straight victory, with a 76-71 Great American Conference victory at Henderson State.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter: 17-17
    • The first quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with neither team leading by more than one possession

  • 2nd Quarter: 12-14 (29-31)
    • The second stanza was much of the same, with the Reddies (11-5, 6-4 GAC) taking the largest lead of the half at 4 (24-28), with 3:15 left to play
    • The Tigers (9-5, 6-4 GAC) fought back with a 5-0 run to take a one-point advantage (29-28) over the next 1:30
    • HSU hit the last shot of the quarter, with 55 second left to play to take a two-point lead into the locker room
  • 3rd Quarter: 22-16 (51-47)
    • ECU came out ready to fight in the second half, using a 9-0 run in the first three minutes to take a 7-point advantage (38-31)
    • The Tigers built the lead out to nine in the quarter, but in the final 1:30 minutes the Reddies made a push to cut the deficit to four (51-47), with a 4-0 run
  • 4th Quarter: 25-24 (76-71
    • HSU kept up the battle and cut the deficit to one, after scoring the first three points of the stanza
    • ECU fired back and used a 12-0 run over the next 4:30 minutes to build the lead out to 13 (63-50)
    • The Reddies made another push and were able to get the advantage down to three (67-64), with 1:33 left to play
    • The Tigers countered with an 8-2 run to gain a nine-point lead again, with 16 ticks left on the clock
