Late Come-Back Run Comes Up Short for Women’s Basketball

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University women's basketball team made a big push in the fourth quarter, but were unable to pick up a win against Harding at the Kerr Activities Center, falling 70-74.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter: 15-20
    • The Bisons (14-5, 10-4 GAC) started strong, using a 7-0 run in the first 2:15 to gain the lead
    • The Tigers (10-7, 7-6 GAC) countered with a 5-1 run, to get within three (5-8), over the next minute
    • The teams traded runs though the stanza, but ECU could not get closer than four
  • 2nd Quarter: 10-19 (25-39)
    • HU increased the pressure in the second quarter, increasing the lead to an many as 15 points (22-37), with 37 seconds left in the half
  • 3rd Quarter: 19-14 (44-53)
    • The teams again traded small runs in the first 7:30 minutes of the stanza
      • The Bisons kept the advantage between 9-15
    • The Tigers used an 8-1 run in the next two minutes to cut the lead to seven (44-51)
  • 4th Quarter: 26-21 (70-74)
    • ECU used the momentum they had gained in the first 3:30 of the final stanza
      • Used a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to one (54-55)
    • HU kept the lead on their side, within two possessions, for the next three minutes
    • The Tigers then tied the game at 62, with 3:10 left to play
    • The game was kept close in the final minutes, but the Bisons took advantage of their trips to the free-throw line in the final two minutes to secure the win (7-of-8)
