Women’s Basketball Gets Back on Winning Track at Arkansas-Monticello

MONTICELLO, Ark. – The East Central University women's basketball team broke a four-game losing streak with a 75-53 victory over Arkansas-Monticello, in the second-to-last road game of the regular season.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter: 10-15
    • The teams traded shots through the first 3:30 minutes (6-7)
    • The Cotton Blossoms (0-21, 0-15 GAC) then went on a 4-0 run to gain a clear advantage (6-11)
    • The Tigers (11-9, 8-8 GAC) fought back within one (10-11), with two minutes remaining
    • UAM then finished the stanza on a 4-0 run
  • 2nd Quarter: 23-12 (33-27)
    • UAM used a 6-1 run to push the lead to 10 (11-21) in the first 2:30 minutes
    • ECU kept the deficit around 10 for the next three minutes (16-26)
    • The Tigers then took control and used a 5-0 run to get within five
    • ECU kept up the pressure and in the remaining time extended the run to 17-1 to gain the lead
      • The Tigers took their first lead, with 1:23 left in the half
  • 3rd Quarter: 19-12 (52-39)
    • ECU hit the first six points of the half, in the first 1:15 to extended the lead to 39-27
    • The Cotton Blossoms added a 4-0 run to get with in eight in the next two minutes
    • The Tigers counted with an 8-0 run to regain a double-digit lead
  • 4th Quarter: 23-14 (75-53)
    • ECU kept up the pressure and increased the lead to 20 in the first four minutes of the stanza
    • The Tigers kept the advantage around 20 for the remainder of the game
