Women’s Basketball Starts Road Trip at Northwestern

ALVA, Okla. – The East Central University women's basketball team returned to action after having the first game of the week delayed due to winter weather across the area.  The Tigers (10-9, 7-8 GAC) and Northwestern Oklahoma State battled through 12 tie scores and 13 lead changes, with the Rangers (12-9, 8-7 GAC) coming out with a 79-74 victory.

Scoring
  • 1st Quarter: 22-23
    • The teams traded small runs and shots throughout the quarter
      • Three tie scores and three lead changes
  • 2nd Quarter: 19-15 (41-38)
    • The second quarter was more of the same
      • Four tie scores and five lead changes
    • ECU took the final lead with three free throws, with 13 seconds remaining
  • 3rd Quarter: 19-15 (60-53)
    • The third quarter was much of the same, with two more tie scores and two more lead changes
    • The Tigers held the lead for much of the quarter, with the largest lead being seven (60-53)
      • ECU went on a 5-0 run in the final three minutes to gain the advantage
  • 4th Quarter: 14-26 (79-74)
    • The Rangers came out ready to fight in the final stanza
      • Used a 10-0 run in the first three minutes to tie the game at 60 and take a 63-60 advantage
    • The teams traded shots to a 65-all tie, with 3:37 left to play
    • NWOSU then took the lead for the rest of the game, with a 3-0 run
    • The Tigers kept fighting and got back within one twice, but could not regain the advantage
    • The Rangers kept the lead by taking care of their shots at the free-throw line (12-of-14) in the final two minutes
    • ECU kept up the pressure and hit a triple, with 16 seconds remaining, to get back within two (76-74)
    • The Tigers then had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but missed a layup
