ADA, Okla. – The East Central University women's soccer team finished the opening weekend of the 2022 season with a 4-2 loss against Winona State University. ECU's record is now 0-1-1.
The matchup marked the first-ever meeting between the two programs. It was an even game statistically, but a late push from the Tigers in the second half was not enough to catch up to the Warriors commanding lead.
Jocelyn Caracheo was the first to score for ECU from an assist by newcomer
Madelyn Bird just seven minutes into the second half. The Tigers added their second and final goal of the game during the last two minutes with a shot from
Kaylee Bruce to cut WSU's lead in half. This is her second straight game with a goal and now leads the team with two goals on the season. Goalkeeper
Baylee Hensley earned her first start of the season and had five saves in the 90-minute match.
The East Central University women's soccer team continues their nonconference schedule against the University of Central Oklahoma on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. in Edmond, Okla.
