Soccer Falls to Oklahoma Christian in Final Minutes

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University women's soccer team played at Tiger Soccer Field for the first time in the 2022 season with a matchup against Oklahoma Christian University. Oklahoma Christian came out on top 1-0.

"The team played really well," said Head Coach Riley Bailey. "They fought hard and just came up a bit unlucky at the end. I'm proud of their effort and how well they played today."

The first half showed no shots from either team until Madelyn Bird took one 25 minutes into the game and the next shot came from Tanja Bauboeck five minutes later. Oklahoma Christian had a shot on goal in the last five minutes of the half, but a save from McKenna Leveling kept the score 0-0 going into halftime.

ECU would see three more shots in the second half from Kaylee Bruce, Paige Jones, and Makayla Smith. The Tigers held the Eagles scoreless through 88 minutes of action, but a connection to the net from Oklahoma Christian with a minute and thirty seconds left of play ended the scoreless drought and secured the 1-0 win.

The East Central University women's soccer team will hit the road Sunday, Sept. 11 to play Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX at 1 p.m.
