WEATHERFORD, Okla. - After a one-day weather delay, the East Central University Tiger soccer team made their way to Weatherford, Oklahoma, for a Great American Conference matchup against the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldogs. The Tigers were trailing 1-0 going into halftime, but a second-half header goal by
Tanja Bauboeck secured the 1-1 draw on the road.
With the tie, the Tigers' conference record moved to 0-1-3 on the year.
Amorette Ramos fired the game's opening shot, but SWOSU would go on to have more attempts throughout the match. While none of their shots were able to connect, one eventually broke through with just under four minutes of play left before the break.
McKenna Leveling made an exceptional save, but the rebound happened to land right at the feet of another SWOSU player, resulting in a 1-0 lead for the Dawgs.
Although the Tigers were determined to make a comeback, they did not immediately find their rhythm resuming play as it took them 10 minutes to register their first shot in the second period. However, they made the most of their first corner kick opportunity.
Lillianne Rehfuss delivered a perfect ball into the box where
Tanja Bauboeck rose above the defense with a spectacular header that found the back of the net, equalizing the score at 1-1.
As the second half progressed, both teams had opportunities to take the lead with four more shots each, but the defenses and goalkeepers held firm. The score would eventually settle at a 1-1 hard-fought draw.
Tanja Bauboeck scored her first goal of the season and had two shots on goal in the match while
