Soccer Blanks Rangers 1-0 at Home

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University soccer team hosted Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Saturday for an exciting Great American Conference showdown, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Tiger Soccer Field.

With the win, ECU improves to 2-3-1 in GAC play, while NWOSU falls to 0-3-2.

"The girls battled hard for all 90 minutes today to walk away with a great result," Head Coach Alyssa Taramona said. "We were resilient and stayed true to what Tiger soccer is. We still have not reached our potential, but we are hungry to continue to work hard and battle with each other and for each other."

Tied 0-0 heading into halftime, Abbie Morris broke the scoreless deadlock in the 49th minute, driving the ball into the back of the net for the winning goal. ECU's defense held strong, recording their third shutout of the season during the annual Pink Out game for cancer awareness.

ECU outshot NWOSU 19-14, with an impressive 11-5 advantage in shots on target. Freshman goalkeeper Madison Mayhall made all five stops to secure her third clean sheet of the season.

Kaylee Bruce led the team with six shots, three of which were on goal, while Abbie Morris recorded four shots, scoring her third goal of the season. Brooklyn Meisner added three shots, two on target, with additional contributions from Amorette Ramos, Haleigh Goodson, Emily Cavazos, Ava Jordan, and Ximena Resendiz who each registered one shot.
