Soccer Falls on the Road

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The East Central University soccer team traveled to Arkansas to face off against Ouachita Baptist University in the battle of the Tigers on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, ECU fell behind early and was unable to recover, dropping 3-1 in the defeat at Kluck Field.

With the loss, ECU now stands 2-4-1 in GAC play while Ouachita improves to 4-1-2.

Despite Emily Cavazos, Paige Jones, Amorette Ramos, and Kaylee Bruce each taking shots before the purple Tigers could find their rhythm, Ouachita would be the one to strike the scoreboard first with a goal midway through the first half to take a 1-0 lead.

After halftime, Ouachita extended their lead with two quick goals in the 66th and 70th minutes for a commanding 3-0 advantage. Emily Green notched ECU's only goal of the game at the 84:15 mark, but it was too late to shift the momentum as the Tigers ultimately fell by a final score of 3-1.

The ECU soccer team will hit the road again on Wednesday, Oct. 23 to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State University at 6 pm. The Tigers will then return home on Saturday, Oct. 26 to face Southwestern Oklahoma State University where they will also honor their seniors following the conclusion of the game.
