ADA, Okla. – The East Central University volleyball team put on an impressive display against the University of Arkansas at Monticello, defeating the Blossoms in straight sets (25-9, 25-7, 25-21) on Friday afternoon.
With the win, ECU improves to 14-10 overall and 8-3 in conference play, while UAM's GAC record drops to 0-11.
The Tigers showcased their dominance in the first two sets, establishing substantial leads and finishing with decisive scores of 25-9 and 25-7. Although UAM managed to put up a more competitive fight in the third set, reaching double digits, ECU maintained control, securing the set 25-21 and completing the match sweep.
The Tigers achieved a team-high hitting percentage of .323 as they demonstrated efficiency in their attacks while minimizing errors. ECU also excelled defensively at the net, recording nine blocks compared to UAM's one.
Emma Strickland led the offense with a double-double performance, recording 10 kills and a team-high 13 digs, while
Ashleigh Miller and
Odalys Gonzalez contributed nine and eight kills, respectively.
Julia Kabala delivered 31 assists on the team's 37 kills.
The ECU volleyball team will play in their final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 29 against Midwestern State University at 7 pm in Wichita Falls, TX.
