ADA, Okla. – The East Central University soccer team battled to a scoreless draw on Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Soccer Field to open up Great American Conference action.
It was the first tie of the season for the Tigers, bringing their overall record to 1-5-1 and 0-0-1 in conference play.
Harding came out aggressively in the first half, launching their first shot of the game just two minutes into the match and totaling 15 attempts in the opening 45 minutes. The Lady Bisons' most threatening chance came at the 19:39 mark, when a shot rattled the crossbar, leaving the scoreboard unscathed.
Paige Jones accounted for ECU's only two shots of the first half, but they were both saved by Harding's goalkeeper.
After halftime, the Tigers seized the initiative, with
Brooklyn Meisner and
Reece Roberson taking consecutive shots hovering the 50-minute mark, but both attempts were denied.
In the final 15 minutes,
Kaylee Bruce and
Emily Green also pressed forward but could not find the back of the net. Harding intensified their attack late in the game, attempting six shots in the last 10 minutes, but ECU's defense and goalkeeper
Madison Mayhall, who recorded nine saves, kept the score line intact.
The ECU soccer team will be back at home for another GAC contest against Ouachita Baptist on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 pm.
