ADA, Okla. – The East Central University soccer team hosted its first home Great American Conference match of the season on Wednesday at Tiger Soccer Field, facing off against Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Despite a competitive effort, the Tigers ultimately fell 3-0.
The Rangers struck early, finding the back of the net less than one minute into the match to quickly put the Tigers on the back foot. However, ECU responded by settling in defensively and generating opportunities of their own.
Addisyn Brown,
Ximena Resendiz,
Avery Spadoni, and
Angelica Bochus each recorded shots, but two were off target and two were saved by the NWOSU goalkeeper, keeping the score at 1-0 heading into halftime.
Though the Tigers stayed within striking distance, the Rangers extended their lead with two more goals early in the second half, scoring in the 50th and 57th minutes to put the match out of reach.
NWOSU outshot ECU 16-9 overall and held a 10-3 edge in shots on goal.
Madison Mayhall recorded seven saves in net for the Tigers.
ECU will return to action at home on Saturday as they take on Southwestern Oklahoma State University in their next GAC matchup.
