Softball Sweeps Southwestern College in Doubleheader

ADA, Okla. – The East Central University softball team hosted Southwestern College in a non-conference doubleheader at Tiger Softball Field. The Tigers opened the day with a 6-1 victory before securing a dominant 10-2 run-rule win in the second game.
 
With these victories, ECU improves to 7-4 on the season as they prepare for their first Great American Conference series of 2025, set for this weekend at Ouachita Baptist University.
 
GAME 1 | ECU 6, SC 1
The Tigers wasted no time in game one, quickly taking a 3-0 lead. They capitalized on two hits and a Jinx error: Carsyn Cox scored on a wild pitch, Elyse LeClair crossed the plate after a shortstop error, and a sacrifice fly from Caton Muncy brought Amiah Galcatcher home.
 
ECU extended their lead in the fourth inning with a two-RBI double from LeClair, driving in Cox and McKinley Feazle for a 5-0 advantage.
 
Southwestern College managed to get one run back in the fifth inning with an RBI groundout, but the Tigers answered with an insurance run in the bottom half. Shayne Roberts' RBI double made it 6-1, sealing the win.
 
Taylor Spence was dominant in the circle, registering eight strikeouts in three innings while allowing just one hit. Brooklyn Charnock came in as relief, delivering four strong innings, allowing just one run on one hit and striking out four to earn her first win of the season.
 
Elyse LeClair led the offense, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs, while Caton Muncy went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
 
GAME 2 | ECU 10, SC 2
ECU carried their momentum into game two, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Galcatcher launched a two-run homer to left field, and Emily Bingham's RBI double to left-center plated Muncy.
 
The Tigers exploded for four more runs in the second inning, extending their lead to 7-0. LeClair doubled to center field, scoring Jaicee Stott, and Galcatcher followed up with her second two-run home run of the game. Muncy then joined the long-ball party with a solo shot, putting the Tigers in control.
 
Southwestern College got a run back in the third and another in the fourth, but ECU ended the game with a two-RBI double from Muncy and an RBI single from Bingham, sealing the 10-2 run-rule victory.
 
Amera Garner started in the circle, striking out four batters and allowing just one hit in 2.0 innings. Chloe Williams came in for the final three innings, earning her second win of the season, giving up two runs on two hits and striking out two.
 
Amiah Galcathcer was dominant with two home runs and four RBIs while Elyse LeClair, Caton Muncy, Emily Bingham, and Abbey Strong contributed two hits each.
