Soccer Drops Road Match to Harding

SEARCY, Ark. – The East Central University soccer team came up short in its second Great American Conference game of the season on Saturday, falling 1-0 on the road in a tough defensive battle against Harding University.

After a scoreless first half that saw ECU outshot 9-2, the home team found the breakthrough early in the second half with a well-placed shot from outside the box. Despite ECU's efforts to respond, the Tigers were unable to generate a consistent attacking rhythm.

The Lady Bisons maintained offensive pressure throughout the match, finishing with a 21-3 advantage in total shots and a 10-0 edge in shots on goal. The Tigers also trailed in corner kicks, 9-0, as the match was largely played in their defensive half.

Goalkeeper Madison Mayhall recorded nine saves for the ECU, keeping the team within reach despite Harding's offensive pressure. Reece Roberson, Giselle Heck, and Emily Green each registered shot attempts, but were unable to find the target.

ECU will look to regroup and refocus as the Tigers return home to Ada to host Northwestern Oklahoma State University on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m.
