Baseball Drops Series Opener at ATU

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – The East Central University baseball team opened their three-game series at Arkansas Tech University under the lights on Friday night but couldn't get their bats going, falling 10-0 to the Wonder Boys.

ECU will look to bounce back in tomorrow's doubleheader at 1 p.m. in the final games of the series.

Arkansas Tech struck early in the top of the first inning with an RBI single to plate the game's first run. The Wonder Boys added three more in the second, including a two-run homer that gave them a 5-0 advantage and set the tone for the night.

The scoring continued in the fifth and sixth innings, as Arkansas Tech took advantage of timely hits and a few defensive miscues to extend the lead. A three-run homer in the sixth inning pushed the lead to 10-0, putting the game out of reach.

ECU struggled to get its bats going in the series opener at Arkansas Tech, finishing with just four hits in the contest. Donovan Noble led the Tigers at the plate with two hits, while Joey Allen and Logan Jeske each added one.

Ryan Dembroski started and worked two innings, allowing five runs on seven hits. Cameron Ebert followed with 3.1 innings, giving up three runs on just one hit while striking out two. Greyson Christian closed the game with two runs allowed in two-thirds of an inning and recorded one strikeout.
