ADA – The East Central University football team had a well-rounded effort against Southwestern Oklahoma State, earning a 36-13 win in the annual Homecoming game at Norris Field. With the win the Tigers moved to 5-2 overall and in the Great American Conference.

Senior
JoJo Snell led the charge on the ground, with 157 net rushing yards and a TD. Sophomore
David Moore was the top producer in the air, with 59 yards and a touchdown. Junior
Spencer Bond went 12-of-23 for 170 yards and added 22 yards rushing.
Defensively, ECU was led by seniors
Qumain Black and
Daniel Holland. Black tallied seven total (5-2) tackles, 1.0 tackles-for-loss (3 yards), one forced fumble and a pass breakup. Holland tallied four solo tackles and 3.0 sacks for 16 yards.
The Tigers wasted no time taking an advantage when Bond rushed in from one-yard out for a 7-0 lead, with 7:59 left in the first quarter.
The lead was quickly added to after the Bulldogs (2-6, 2-6 GAC) fumbled on their first play of the next drive and it was recovered by sophomore
Vernon Johnson on the SWOSU 35. ECU then finished a six-play, 18-yard drive with a 34-yard field goal by redshirt sophomore
David Massuere, with 5:41 left in the first quarter.
The Tigers wrapped up the first stanza with an 80-yard touchdown run by Snell, with 1:17 left on the clock and a 17-0 advantage.
ECU added a TD with 7:41 left in the second to push the advantage to 24-0. Moore caught a 59-yard pass from Bond and scrambled into the end zone.
The Bulldogs finally got on the scoreboard with 4:14 left in the opening half to cut the deficit to 24-7. However, the Tigers added a 25-yard field goal, with 47 seconds left on the clock, to go into the locker room with a 27-7 advantage.
The third quarter was quiet for the scoreboard, with only SWOSU adding a TD to their total with 41 seconds left. But ECU blocked the extra-point attempt for a 27-13 score.
Early in the fourth quarter (12:13) the Tigers got a touchdown on the defensive side of the ball, as senior
Jameel Whitney intercepted a pass and returned it 29 yards untouched. The extra point was blocked to put the score at 33-13.
The Tigers saw the final points on the scoreboard go up with 1:27 left to play, as Massuere hit his third field goal of the day. This time he converted on a 41-yard attempt for the 36-13 final.
ECU will now head to Russellville, Ark., for the final road game of the 2014 season. The Tigers will battle with Arkansas Tech, Saturday, Nov. 1 with kickoff set for 3 p.m.
Note: Today's attendance was the most since Nov. 7, 2009 when the Tigers hosted 4,000 against Southeastern.
