ADA – The East Central University softball team will start the Great American Conference portion of the 2016 season on the road at Southwestern Oklahoma State, Feb. 19-20. The Tigers (3-8) will play doubleheaders against the Bulldogs (2-8) both days, with Friday's starting at 1 p.m. and Saturday's at noon.
ECU is coming off a tough weekend, where they fell to two ranked opponents in four games. Senior
Lauren Reeves led the Tigers in the games, with a .417 batting average, three runs, five hits, two doubles, one home run and two RBIs.
SWOSU went 1-4 at the Emerald Beach Hotel Softball Invitational last week to move to 2-8 on the year. Miranda McDonald is one of the top players for the Bulldogs, with a .444 batting average, four runs and eight hits. Alex Wilson is one of just two players that have played in all 10 games this season, recording 14 hits, four runs and five RBIs.
Taya Haney has seen the most action in the circle, with 24.1 innings of work. Haney has a 1-2 record, allowing 35 hits and 23 runs and striking out 17.
The Tigers currently hold a 34-29 lead in the all-time series that dates back to 1999. ECU has won the last 11 meetings, with the last loss coming March 1, 2013 on the road (0-3). Since they have been GAC opponents, the Tigers are 13-3 against the Bulldogs and they have a 19-16 lead in the series when played in Weatherford, Okla.
