Softball Set to Host Ouachita

Senior Marissa Shaffer went 2-0 against Northwestern in the circle.
ADA – The East Central University softball team will be at home for the second-straight week, as they are set to host Ouachita Baptist, March 4-5 at Tiger Field.  Doubleheaders are set for each day, with Friday's starting at 1 p.m. and Saturday's at noon.

Last week, the Tigers went 3-1 against Northwestern Oklahoma State.  Freshman Ellanee Allison led ECU in the games with a .500 batting average, five hits, two runs and two RBIs.  Senior Marissa Shaffer picked up two wins in the circle, including a shutout victory.  Shaffer allowed eight hits and one run in two games, while striking out six.

Ouachita comes into the Great American Conference series with a 7-9 overall record and 1-7 mark in the league after going 1-3 at Harding.  OBU his hitting .266 for the season and is allowing a .361 mark by the opposition.

Sarah Johnson has a .365 batting average, with seven runs, 19 hits and six RBIs.  Paige Purifoy adds a .429 average, in just nine games, and has tallied three runs, six hits and two RBIs.

Ouachita has used three pitchers in 2016, with Macy Nantz earning the majority of the time.  Nantz has pitched 50.1 innings, while the other two pitchers have thrown less than 30 innings each.  Nantz has a 4-2 record, allowing 72 hits and 38 runs and striking out 32.

The Tigers hold a clear 16-5 lead in the all-time series with OUB, including a 14-3 mark in conference play and a 7-3 record at Tiger Field.  That record includes a five-game winning streak, dating back to 2014.
