ADA – The East Central University softball team is headed to Bethany, Okla., this weekend for a four-game Great American Conference series with Southern Nazarene, April 8-9. Doubleheaders are set for each day, with Friday's starting at 2 p.m. and Saturday's at noon.
The Tigers are 19-22 overall and 16-14 in the league after going 3-1 against Oklahoma Baptist last weekend. Sophomore
Bre'Anna Davis led ECU with a .600 batting average, two runs, three hits and seven RBIs. Of her three hits, two were home runs, including the game-winning hit in the final game of the series.
The Crimson Storm come into this weekend's games with a 20-22 overall record and an 11-19 mark in the GAC after winning two games against Rogers State Monday, April 4 and going 2-2 at Southeastern over the weekend.
SNU is hitting .270 for the season and allowing a .238 average, while four players are hitting over .300 for the season. Sam Smith leads the Crimson Storm with a .367 batting average, 39 runs, 44 hits and 34 RBIs. Sydni Toilolo adds a .333 average, 21 runs, 32 hits and 33 RBIs.
SNU has two key pitchers with over 100 innings of action this season. Kayla Wyatt is the top producer with a 12-10 record, 17 complete games and three shutouts. She has thrown 146.1 innings, allowed 99 hits and 69 runs and struck out 214. Katelyn Brown adds a 7-10 record in 107.1 innings, 125 hits and 85 runs allowed and 84 Ks.
The two teams have meet on 23 previous occasions, with the Tigers leading 16-7, including a 9-3 mark as league opponents. When playing in Bethany, ECU leads the series 12-5, including a 3-1 mark last year when the series was moved to SNU due to field conditions, but the Tigers were the home team.
