ADA – The East Central University softball team will play its second Great American Conference series of the 2017 season at Tiger Field, March 3-4, when they host Southwestern Oklahoma State. The teams will play double-headers each day, with Friday's (March 3) starting at 1 p.m. and Saturday's (March 4) at 12 p.m.
The Tigers (9-7, 0-4 GAC) fell in four games to No. 2 Southern Arkansas in the opening league series of the year. ECU was led by sophomore
Mariah Ewy, with a .500 average, three hits and a run. Sophomore
Breecia Crawford added a .333 average, four hits and a run.
The Bulldogs are 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the league after facing No. 23 Harding at home last weekend. SWOSU is hitting .276 as a team and allowing just a .286 mark.
Kaytlin Donaldson leads the team with a .429 average, 12 hits, five runs, a double, two home runs and seven RBIs.
Of the six pitchers that have seen action so far in 2017, Taya Haney has seen the most action, with 35.0 innings in seven games. She has thrown one complete game, recorded a 4.80 ERA and 2-2 record, with 41 hits and 31 runs allowed and 12 Ks to her credit.
Since 1999, the teams have met on 67 previous occasions, with the Tigers holding a 36-31 advantage overall and 15-5 in GAC games. When playing at home, ECU's advantage is smaller at 15-13.
A year ago, the teams split the series in Weatherford, but the Tigers won the previous four meetings at home in 2015.
