Softball Headed To Arkansas for End of Spring Break

ADA – The East Central University softball team his headed to Arkadelphia, Ark., for a four-game Great American Conference series against Ouachita Baptist to wrap up Spring Break.  Double-headers are set for Friday, March 17 at 2 p.m. and Saturday, March 18 at noon.

The Tigers come into the weekend with a 14-10 overall ready and a 5-7 mark in the GAC after splitting the series at Northwestern Oklahoma State last weekend.

Junior Alissa Taylor led ECU with a .563 batting average, nine hits, two runs, three doubles, a home run and six RBIs in four games.  Junior Claresha Clemons added a .429 average, six hits, two runs, two double, a home run and three RBIs.

Four pitchers saw action in the series at NWOSU, with senior Kelbie Crelia and freshman Karlie Milburn each picking up a win in the circle.  Crelia threw 11.0 innings, allowed nine hits and three runs, while striking out four.

Ouachita comes into the series with a 10-14 overall record and a 4-8 mark in the league standings after dropping its last seven games.  As a team they are hitting .248 for the season, while allowing a .287 mark.

Natalie Jackson leads the team with a .316 average, 18 hits, eight runs and eight RBIs.  Macy Nantz has a .303 average with 20 hits, seven runs and seven RBIs, while Sarah Johnson adds a .301 average, 22 hits, 10 runs and 13 RBIs.

The other Tigers have put just four pitchers in the circle this season, with three seeing regular action.  Kelsey O'Brien has seen the most action with 70.2 innings of work, 75 hits and 46 runs allowed and 45 strikeouts.  Macy Nantz adds 28 Ks in 47.1 innings, while Marissa Butler has netted 27 in 36 innings.

ECU holds a clear advantage in the all-time series with Ouachita at 20-5, including an 18-3 mark in the league.  The series is closer when played on the road, with ECU holding a 6-2 advantage.
