ADA – After two weeks on the road, the East Central University softball team will play at Tiger Field, with a four-game Great American Conference series against Henderson State, March 25-26. Double-headers are set for both days, with Saturday, March 25 at noon and Sunday, March 26 at noon.
The Tigers are now 17-11 overall and 8-8 in the league after going 3-1 last weekend at Ouachita. Sophomore
Madison Thompson led ECU with a 1.000 average, five hits and two RBIs in three games. Sophomore
Ellanee Allison added a .600 average, three hits, one run and three RBIs.
The Reddies are 14-14 overall and 8-7 in the league after going 3-1 last weekend against Southeastern, with two of the games taking extra innings. In fact of the last eight games that HSU has played, five have taken extra innings, including a 19-inning battle with Arkansas Tech.
The Reddies are hitting .266 as a team and allowing a .208 mark by the opposition. Keirsten Seahorn leads the team with a .329 average, 27 hits, 16 runs, eight doubles, a home run and 18 RBIs. Courtney Warren adds a .326 average, 31 hits, 11 runs and eight RBIs.
The pitching staff is where the real battle has been going on, with Michelle Sorensen racking up a lot of time in the circle and strikeouts. Sorensen has played in 21 games, with 11 complete games, three shutouts, a 2.08 ERA, 10-6 record, 117.0 innings of work, 67 hits and 35 runs allowed and 118 strikeouts.
The series with HSU currently standing more in favor of the Tigers, with ECU leading 22-7 overall, 17-3 in the GAC and 11-2 when playing at Tiger Field. Last year, the series was played in Arkadelphia, with the teams splitting each day. The last time the teams were in Ada, the teams also split the series, with the Reddies taking the first two games and ECU claiming the second two.
