Softball Set to Host Senior Weekend

ADA – The East Central University softball team will play the final series of the season at Tiger Field April 23-24 against Southern Nazarene.  Doubleheaders are set to start at 2 p.m. on both days.

The weekend will feature the annual Senior Day before the start of Sunday's games when the Tigers will honor their four seniors: Erin Sanders, Carlee Henderson, Kelbie Crelia and Haley Hyatt.

ECU is currently 25-22 overall and 16-19 in Great American Conference action after sweeping the final doubleheader with Southeastern Oklahoma State Tuesday.  The Tigers are currently fifth in the GAC standings with two weeks left to play before the GAC Championship Tournament.

ECU was led by junior Alissa Taylor, who hit .667 in the series, with four hits and an RBI.  Sophomore Breecia Crawford added a .429 average, three hits, two runs, a home run and two RBIs.

Senior Kelbie Crelia earned a complete-game win and picked up a save, allowing two hits and two runs in 8.0 innings.  Freshman Karlie Milburn added the second win, throwing 1.2 innings and allowing one hit and no runs.

The Crimson Storm are 19-29 overall and 15-21 after being swept by Oklahoma Baptist in the mid-week series and sweeping Southeastern over the weekend.

SNU is hitting .256 as a team and allowing their opponents to hit .315.  There are three players hitting over .300 on the year, with Mahina Sauer leading the way with a .385 average, 45 hits, 22 runs and 34 RBIs.  She is also a pitcher with 53.2 innings, a 3-8 record, 91 hits and 69 runs allowed and 20 strikeouts.

The Crimson Storm have a five-member pitching staff, with three having seen more than 50 innings.  Katelyn Brown has seen the most action with 179.0 innings, a 14-13 record, 20 complete games, three shutouts, 179 hits and 109 runs allowed, and 155 strikeouts.

The teams have met on 28 previous occasions, with the Tigers holding an 18-9 lead in the all-time series.  ECU is 11-5 when playing as GAC opponents and just 4-2 when playing at home.
