Softball Headed to Face Southwestern in GAC Series

Junior Mariah Ewy
ADA – The East Central University softball team will make the trip to Weatherford, Okla., to face Southwestern Oklahoma State in the second Great American Conference series of the 2018 season, March 2-3.  The teams are scheduled to play double-headers each day, with Friday's starting at 1 p.m. and Saturday's at noon.

The Tigers (6-8, 1-3 GAC) opened conference play against No. 7 Southern Arkansas, picking up one victory on day one.

ECU was led by freshman Angel Stoker at the plate and in the circle.  Stoker picked up the pitching win, with 6.0 innings of work, five hits and three runs allowed and three strikeouts.  At the plate, she hit .500 (3-of-6) in two games.  Junior Aundrea Hamric added a .444 batting average, with four hits, three runs and an RBI.

The Bulldogs have struggled at the start of the season, going 0-12 overall and 0-4 in GAC play.  Like the Tigers, SWOSU started league action against a ranked opponent in No. 12 Harding.

While as a team, the Bulldogs are hit .281, Kinsey Skroh and Amanda Moreno are both hit over .425 for the season.  Skroh leads the team with a .538 average, 14 hits, five runs and four RBIs, while Moreno adds 12 hits, four runs and six RBIs.

Rileigh Ricken has seen most of the team in the circle, out of four pitchers for SWOSU.  Ricken has a 7.88 ERA after 29.1 innings of work, 45 hits and 35 runs allowed and 11 Ks to her credit.

After going 3-1 in last year's series, the Tigers hold a 39-32 overall advantage in the all-time series.  ECU also leads 18-6 when playing as conference opponents and 21-18 when playing in Weatherford.
