ADA – For the second-straight week the East Central University softball team will be at the friendly confines of Tiger Field, as they are set to host Ouachita Baptist March 16-17 for a four-game Great American Conference series. Friday's double-header is set to start at 2 p.m. and Saturday's at noon.
The Tigers are 11-11 overall and 6-6 in the GAC after going 1-3 last weekend against Northwestern. ECU has to players hitting over .400 on the season, with junior
Breecia Crawford leading the way with a .476 average, 20 hits, 14 runs and nine RBIs. Sophomore
Catherine Barrera adds a .404 average, 23 hits, 15 runs and eight RBIs.
Freshman
Jessica Sisemore picked up her first win in the circle last weekend and has now allowed 24 hits and 25 runs, with six strikeouts.
The other Tigers from the conference are 9-10 overall and 5-7 in the GAC after dropping their last six games. Paige Purifoy leads Ouachita at the plate, with a .396 average, 19 hits, five runs and two RBIs. Sarah Johnson has recorded 21 hits, 10 runs and earned 22 RBIs.
Ouachita has four pitchers on the state, with two throwing more than 15 innings. Sarah Chamberlain has seen the most time, with 62. 1 innings of work, with 72 hits and 42 runs allowed and 14 Ks.
The two Tiger teams have met on 29 previous occasions, with the orange and black Tigers holding a 23-6 all-time advantage, including a 21-4 mark as league opponents and 11-3 when playing in Ada.
