ADA – For the first time in the 2018 season, the East Central University softball team will get to play at Tiger Field in Ada, Okla. The Tigers will host Northwestern Oklahoma State for a four-game Great American Conference series, March 9-10. Double-headers are set for each day, with Friday's starting a 1 p.m. and Saturday's at noon.
ECU heads into the game with a 10-8 overall record and a 5-3 mark in the GAC after sweeping Southwestern Oklahoma State last weekend. Freshman
Jacey Henry was named GAC Pitcher of the Week after the series.
The Marietta, Okla., native threw a complete game in the circle and started all four games as a batter. She allowed six hits and three runs (one earned), walked one batter and struck out three. She did not allow more than a single and held the Bulldogs to a .214 batting average in 7.0 innings.
At the plate, she hit .538, with seven hits, seven runs, two doubles, a home run and seven RBIs. She earned a .923 slugging percentage and a .647 on-base percentage, while going 1-for-1 in stolen base attempts and recording a 1.000 fielding percentage (two putouts/one assisted).
The Rangers are currently 2-12 overall and 1-7 in the league after going 1-3 against Southeastern Oklahoma State last weekend. As a team, NWOSU is hitting .252 and allowing a .326 average.
At the plate, Brittany Corrales leads the team with a .359 average, 14 hits, eight runs, four doubles, two home runs and four RBIs. Estrella Guardiola adds a .345 average, 10 hits, four runs, a double, two home runs and six RBIs.
The Rangers have just three pitchers that have seen action this season, with two accounting for all but 5.2 innings. Madison Garza has thrown 38.0 innings, earned a 5.16 ERA, 1-6 record, allowed 51 hits and 35 runs and struck out 33. Karly Murray adds 45.1 innings, with a 6.02 ERA, 1-5 record, 65 hits and 43 runs allowed and 17 Ks.
The Tigers currently hold a 12-7 lead in the all-time series, including a 10-5 mark when playing as GAC opponents. Most of the series has been played at Tiger Field, with ECU leading 11-5.
