WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS – After falling behind 0-3, the East Central University soccer team attempted a comeback, but fell just short against Midwestern State.  The Lady Tigers fell 2-3 to the Mustangs at MSU Soccer Field in non-conference action.

Box Score

The Lady Tigers (0-6) were paced by junior Kourtney Holleman, who tallied her third goal of the season and the second in as many games.  Holleman garnered a total of six shots, four finding the net.    Sophomore Krista Kahl added the second goal, her first of the season.

Redshirt freshman Taylor Lowe started the game in net for ECU, playing the first 45 minutes, recording four saves and allowing two goals.  Freshman Lexi Hurley took the shift in net in the second half, recording three saves and allowing one goal.

The Lady Tigers fell behind 0-2 in the first half, when the Mustangs (3-2) scored two goals in a seven-minute span.  MSU added a third goal around the 66 minute mark.

That is when ECU came to life and scored the next two goals.  Holleman added her third of the season at 82:31.  Less than three minutes later Kahl added her first goal of the season on a penalty kick for the 2-3 final.

"We definitely stepped up in the second half," said head coach Riley Bailey.  "We really had them on the ropes towards the end and could see the panic.  I'm proud of the ladies and the way they battled tonight."

The match was filled with action as the teams combined for 42 shots, with 20 (10 each) on goal.

The Lady Tigers will now have a week off before their next match, as the match scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 22 against McMurry at Lady Tiger Field has been cancelled.

ECU's next match will now be Friday, Sept. 27 when the Lady Tigers open Great American Conference action against Northwestern Oklahoma State at Lady Tiger Field.  The match is set to start at 4 p.m. and will be the first of three-straight matches at home for ECU.
