Softball Set to Host Southwestern Oklahoma State

ADA – The East Central University softball team will have a very busy weekend, with their final home games of the 2015 season set to be played at Southwestern Oklahoma State, April 10-11 at Tiger Field.  The weekend will also feature a National Girls and Women in Sports Clinic at 9 a.m., the annual Senior Day presentation before the start of the game and a 1995 softball team reunion between games of the double-header.

The double-header for Friday, April 10 is set to start at 2 p.m. and Saturday's double-header is set for noon at Tiger Field.

The Bulldogs come into the Great American Conference series with a 7-27 overall record and a 3-19 mark in the GAC after winning twice at home against Northwestern Oklahoma State Tuesday.  Adrienne Martinez is the top producer for SWOSU, with a .374 average, 33 runs, 37 hits and 28 RBIs.  Of the seven total pitchers that have seen action this season, Rileigh Ricken has appeared in 20 games, throwing 78.2 innings for the Bulldogs.  She is 3-10, with 109 hits and 78 runs allowed and 29 strikeouts.

In 2014, the Tigers took all four games in the series on the road in Weatherford, Okla.   Junior Jordynn VanPelt leads the ECU returners with a .538 average, four runs, seven hits and five RBIs.  Both sophomore Sydney Dow and senior Brianna Nunley went 2-0 in the circle.  Dow threw 12.1 innings, allowed nine hits and two runs and struck out 13.  Nunley threw 10.1 innings, allowing 11 hits and four runs and earning six Ks.

The series with the Bulldogs is one of the longest and tightest in school history at 30-29 in favor of the Tigers after ECU has won the last seven games.  The Tigers are 9-3 when playing as GAC opponents, but 11-13 when playing at home in the series that dates back to 1999.
