ADA – The East Central University soccer team will have a long week ahead of them, with three matches. Those matches include the first two homes matches of the year at Tiger Field.
The Tigers (0-2) open the week with a road contest at Newman, Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. ECU will then come home to face Northeastern State, Friday, Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. and Rogers State, Sunday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. at Tiger Field.
The Tigers are coming off two losses to start the season at the GAC/MIAA Challenge in St. Joseph, Mo. ECU had a slow offensive start, scoring one goal over two matches and allowing six. Sophomore
Deanna Rudasill scored the lone goal for the Tigers, with senior
Kelsey Pickrell picking up the assists.
Freshman
Chloe Hull earned the starts in goal, stopping 20 shots in the two matches.
The Jets are currently 0-1-1 on the year and will wrap up a three-match home stand Wednesday when ECU comes to town. Newman is close to its opponents in all categories except on corners, where they have an 8-4 advantage.
Morgan Foster has scored both of the goals by the Jets so far this season and has tallied six shots on goal. Kelsi Langley and Kayleigh Renfro have split time as goalkeeper. Langley has a 1.16 goals against average, with seven saves and both decisions. Renfro has allowed one goal and stopped to shots.
The RiverHawks are 2-0 in 2015 and will have one match before coming to Ada to face ECU when they battle Ouachita Baptist, Tuesday, Sept. 8. NSU has had a strong offensive start to the season, earning 7-0 and 4-0 wins. The RiverHawks are strongest in the second half, scoring 10 of their 11 goals in the second stanza.
Morgan Kent and Melissa Giles are the top producers for NSU, with two goals each. Kent has garnered seven shots on goal and Giles five. Jordan Woodruff has seen all the action in net, recording two shutouts and stopping five shots.
The Hillcats are 0-1 on the year, but have three matches on the schedule before coming to Ada. RSU will travel to Texas Woman's (Sept. 8) and Missouri Southern (Sept. 10) and then host Oklahoma Wesleyan (Sept. 11). While they have not score a goal they have recorded nine shots on goal in one match.
Samantha Snow has recorded three of those nine shots on goal. Taylor Stover has seen most of the action in net, allowing six goals and recording nine saves.
