ADA – The East Central University men's tennis team will play three matches over the next week, including two road matches Saturday, March 1 in Lawton, Okla. The Tigers are set to face Colorado State Pueblo at 9 a.m. and then host Cameron at 2 p.m. at the Stretch-Henry Tennis Complex.
ECU will then return home to start a six-match home stand when Midwestern State comes to Mayhue Courts, Thursday, March 6 for a 3 p.m. match.
The Thunder Wolves will be opening the 2014 season this weekend when they face four teams in Lawton, Okla. Colorado Pueblo will face Cameron and Ouachita Baptist, Friday, Feb. 28 and they battle Seminole State after their match with the Tigers March 1. In 2012-13, the Thunder Wolves finished with a 4-16 record.
Cameron is 5-2 overall after winning its last four matches. The Aggies are currently ranked No. 16 in the nation and No. 1 in the South Central Region. Cameron's last match was Feb. 22 when they defeated Metropolitan State University of Denver. The Aggies will face Colorado Pueblo and Ouachita Baptist before battling with the Tigers.
Midwestern State is 3-2 overall and ranked No. 17 in the nation and No. 2 in the South Central Region so far this season. The Mustangs will play two matches March 1 against Hardin-Simmons and McMurry before coming to Ada. MSU will also face Seminole State, Thursday, March 6 in the morning before playing ECU at 3 p.m.
The Tigers are ranked No. 9 in the Central Region and have a 3-2 record so far in 2013-14. ECU has seen strong singles play from freshman
Stefan Schodlbauer and senior
Julian Caminos.
Schodlbauer is 4-1 at No. 6 singles, while Caminos is 3-1 at No. 3 singles. Schodlbauer also has a 3-2 record at No. 3 doubles with junior
Nate Kipping.
