Women’s Tennis Falls in Two Matches

ADA – The East Central University women's tennis team returned to the courts and fell in two non-conference matches at home.  The Lady Tigers (1-9) first fell 2-5 to Arkansas-Fort Smith and then 4-5 to Crowley County.

The Lady Tigers fell behind 0-3 in doubles in the opening match of the day against the Lions and were down 0-4 after the first singles match ended.

Junior Bernardita Muscillo gave ECU the first point with a 6-0, 6-5 win over Abby White at No. 1 singles.  Junior Elisabeth Dignard gave the Lady Tigers their final point with a 6-1, 7-6 win over Masa Podunavac at No. 3 singles.

In the second match of the day, ECU took a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches.  Dignard and freshman Julia Municoy combined for an 8-4 win over Hannah Brown and Shali Schoplion at No. 1 doubles.  Muscillo and senior Agostina Moran then added an 8-3 win over Ana Ruzir and Erianne Adams at No. 2 doubles.

Cowley took the next two points for a 2-3 advantage.  Municoy then tied the set at three, with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Sarah Giraldo at No. 2 singles.

Dignard gave the Lady Tigers a 4-3 lead with a 6-7, 6-5, 10-6 win at No. 3 singles.  However, Crowley earned the final two points for the 4-5 win.

ECU will return to action, Friday, March 21 when they host Missouri Western at 1 p.m. and then Northwest Missouri State, Saturday, March 22 at 3 p.m.
