BENTONVILLE, ARK. – The East Central University women's tennis team earned two All-Great American Conference honors, with junior
Julia Municoy earning first team honors and redshirt freshman
Anna Garcia second team.
Municoy earned her third-straight All-GAC First Team honor as a part of the Tigers program. The Sta MaPalautordera, Spain, native finished 2015-16 with a 6-1 record against league opponents in singles play and a 15-8 overall mark, earning a No. 9 ranking in the ITA Central Region singles lists.
Garcia went 3-4 in GAC singles, with a 6-18 overall singles record. The redshirt freshman played mostly No. 2 singles (6-12) and adds an 11-14 mark in doubles action.
The Tigers (11-13) opened the 2015-16 GAC Tennis Championship Tournament with a victory over Southern Nazarene earlier in the day.

Srijita Ghosh were the first to finish, taking an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles over Paulina Obreque and Taylor Sullivan.
Garcia and junior
Gloria Mayorga then added an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles over Dragana Samardzic and Judit Mas.
Sophomore
Veronica Mijares pushed the lead to 3-1 as the first singles set to finish. Mijares defeated Kylie Lang 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
Ghosh added a point with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles over Mas and sophomore
Alex Makashov claimed the victory for the Tigers with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Obreque at No. 3 singles.
ECU will now prepare to face Arkansas Tech in the semifinals, Friday, April 22 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park.
