Men’s Tennis Prepares for Three Ranked Opponents

Senior Julian Caminos is 6-2 in singles play this season.
ADA – The East Central University men's tennis team will wrap up a six match home stand against three opponents that are ranked in the top-35 in the nation according to ITA Tennis.  The Tigers (6-4) will first face No. 19 BYU-Hawaii and No. 20 Northwest Missouri State, Saturday, March 22 at Mayhue Courts.  The match against BYU is slated for 9:30 a.m. and the match against Northwest Missouri State is set for 3 p.m.  ECU will then host No. 35 Southwest Baptist, Sunday, March 23 at 1 p.m.

The Seasiders are 7-3 overall in 2014 after winning their last three matches.  BYU's last outing was March 12 in a win against Holy Names at home.  Besides their national ranking, the Seasiders are also ranked No. 5 in the West Region.

The Bearcats are 6-1 on the year after winning their last two matches, March 15.  NWMSU is also in the Central Region, with the Tigers (No. 9), and is currently the top team in the region.  Part of the reason for that ranking is the fact that the Bearcats have four players that are undefeated in singles play.

The other Bearcats are 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the MIAA.  Southwest Baptist has played five ranked opponents this season, including the last three matches.  The Bearcats have gone 3-2 in those meeting and they will face No. 51 Nebraska-Kearney March 21 before traveling to Ada.  SWB is also in the Central Region and is currently ranked No. 5.

The Tigers are 6-4 after winning their last two matches at Mayhue Courts last Friday.  ECU has two players with a 6-2 singles record for the season, including senior Julian Caminos at No. 3 singles.  Caminos has also paired with senior Andrew Cabato at No. 1 doubles for a 4-6 mark.
