ADA – The East Central University men's and women's tennis teams are set for a full weekend of matches. The women's tennis team will open its 2014 Great American Conference season, Thursday, March 27 at 1 p.m. at Mayhue Courts against Southern Nazarene.
The Lady Tigers will then hit the road to play to matches at Tyler, Texas March 28-29. ECU will first face the University of Texas at Tyler, Friday, March 28 at 3:30 p.m. and then Tyler Junior College, Saturday, March 29 at 10 a.m.
The men's tennis team will travel with the women's team to face the University of Texas at Tyler, Friday, March 28 and Tyler Junior College, Saturday, March 29.
Southern Nazarene is currently 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the GAC this season. The Crimson Storm defeated Henderson State (5-4) and Ouachita Baptist (7-2) on the road and fell to Arkansas Tech (3-6) at home. The match against the Golden Suns was March 24 and the last outing that SNU has competed in.
Masha Andrianova is the key player for the Crimson Storm with a 6-0 record at No. 1 singles (3-0 GAC) and 5-1 (2-1 GAC) at No. 1 doubles with Natalia Moreno.
Texas at Tyler women are 7-6 overall and 4-0 in league action this season. The Patriots have won their last three matches 9-0, against Sul Ross State, Hardin-Simmons and Ozarks last weekend.
Tyler Junior College women's team is 14-4 on the season, with their last match March 17, where they suffered a 4-5 loss to Northeastern State.
On the men's side, Texas at Tyler is 11-3 overall and 4-0 in their conference. The Patriots also defeated Sul Ross State, Hardin-Simmons and Ozarks 9-0 over the weekend.
Tyler Junior College's men are 10-6 in 2014 after losing their last three matches. The last outing for Tyler was March 22 when they fell 1-6 to Louisiana-Lafayette.
