BENTONVILLE, ARK. – The East Central University women's tennis team made it to the Great American Conference semifinals before falling to Harding.  The Lady Tigers (6-16) defeated Henderson State in the opening round, 5-2, and then fell to top-seeded Harding, 2-5 in the semifinals.

Quarterfinal #1 – ECU 5, Henderson State 2
The Lady Tigers started the match by taking a 2-1 lead after the doubles matches.

Junior Elisabeth Dignard, a 2014 All-GAC Second Team pick, and freshman Julia Municoy, a 2014 All-GAC First Team honoree, started things off with an 8-0 win over Sara Griffin and Hannah Watson at No. 1 doubles.

HSU took No. 2 doubles, but junior Bernardita Muscillo and Kelsey Kerr then earned an 8-2 win over Tyler Reaves and Maddie McJunkins at No. 3 doubles.

The tournament set-up called for the match to end after a team reached five points.  ECU was then forced to give the Lady Reddies a point at No. 1 singles because of illness.

However, the Lady Tigers rallied and earned the final three points needed with wins at No. 5, No. 2 and No. 4 singles.  Senior Agostina Moran was the first to finish with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Reaves at No. 5 singles.

Municoy added a 6-0, 6-1 win over Watson at No. 2 singles.  The winning point game from junior Aurelie Rodriguez, who defeated Brittany Harness 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.

Semifinal #2 – Harding 5, ECU 2
The Lady Tiger fell behind 1-2 after the doubles matches in the night cap.  The Bisons (16-4) took No. 2 and No. 3 doubles before Dignard and Municoy took an 8-4 decision over Benyapa Phumtip and Piper Huey at No. 1 doubles.

Harding took the No. 1 and No. 6 singles matches to lead 4-1.  Municoy then earned a point with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Huey at No. 2 singles for a 4-2 score.

The Lady Tigers continued to fight, but fell in the No. 3 singles match, which gave Harding the win.
