EDMOND, OKLA. – The East Central University women's tennis team earned a key regional victory over Central Oklahoma in non-conference action. The Tigers (3-1), who are ranked No. 10 in the Central Region, claimed a 6-3 win over the Bronchos (0-1), who are ranked No. 8 in the Central Region.

Gloria Mayorga picked up the lone points for the Tigers with an 8-2 win over Emilie Semo and Anya Minakova at No. 2 doubles.
The Tigers then regrouped and came out strong in singles play, taking five of the six points for the 6-3 win. Redshirt freshman
Veronica Mijares was the first to finish, claiming a 6-1, 6-1 win over Lauren Allison at No. 6 singles to tie the match at two.
Senior
Elisabeth Dignard gave the Tigers the lead with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Semo at No. 3 singles. Senior
Bernardita Muscillo added to the advantage with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Olya Burak at No. 2 singles.
The match-winning point then came from sophomore
Julia Municoy, with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Alina Gorina at No. 1 singles. The final point was added with a 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 win by Ghosh over Minakova at No. 4 singles.
The Tigers will now get ready for a two-match road weekend. ECU will face Newman, Friday, Feb. 13 and Rockhurst, Saturday, Feb. 14 in Wichita, Kan.
