ARKANSAS CITY, KAN. – The East Central University women's tennis team broke a five match losing streak, with a 7-2 win over Cowley County Community College in the last of three non-conference matches over the weekend.
The Tigers (6-8) came out ready to play during the doubles matches, earning all three points. Senior
Bernardita Muscillo and redshirt freshman
Veronica Mijares first earned an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles. Sophomore
Julia Municoy and senior
Elisabeth Dignard then added an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and freshman
Gloria Mayorga and senior Virginie Rodriguez took an 8-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
Mayorga made it a 4-0 score, as the first to finish in singles play. Mayorga defeated Logyn Williams 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles. Muscillo then claimed the match for the Tigers with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Eva Forneiron at No. 2 singles.
ECU also picked up wins by Municoy (2-6, 6-4, 10-7) at No. 1 singles and freshman
Andrea Sosa (6-1, 4-1) at No. 6 singles.
The Tigers will wrap up a seven-match road stand, Wednesday, April 1 when they travel to face Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas.
