DURANT, OKLA. – The East Central University women's tennis team put their Great American Conference championship hopes in their own fate, with an 8-1 win over arch rival Southeastern Oklahoma State.
The Tigers move to 11-10 overall and 4-0 in the GAC, with two matches left to play before the GAC Championship, April 24-25 in Bentonville, Ark.
ECU jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage over the Savage Storm (15-6, 5-1 GAC). Sophomore

Elisabeth Dignard took No. 1 doubles 8-1, freshman
Srijita Ghosh and senior
Bernardita Muscillo took No. 3 doubles 8-2 and senior Verginie Rodriguez and sophomore
Gloria Mayorga won No. 2 doubles 8-5.
Muscillo then made the score 4-0, with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Ilga Racika-Racko. SEOSU took No. 3 singles to keep the match going, but it was short lived.
Municoy earned the match-win with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Alexsandra Reljic at No. 1 singles. ECU followed with wins by Mayorga (7-6, 2-6, 10-7) at No. 4 singles, Ghosh (6-1,7-5) at No. 5 singles and freshman
Veronica Mijares (3-6, 6-3, 10-5) at No. 6 singles for the 8-1 final.
The Tigers will now prepare for the final two matches of the regular-season against GAC opponents. The first match is set for Thursday, April 16 at Mayhue Courts against Arkansas Tech at noon. The final match of the season is a road match at Harding, Saturday, April 18 at 9:30 a.m.
