SEARCY, ARK. – The East Central University men's tennis team picked up their first Great American Conference win of the season, with a 5-4 win against Harding.
The Tigers (7-11, 1-2 GAC) took two of the three doubles matches for the early lead. Senior
Marc Fillat and freshman
Alex Fillat earned an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles over Brandon Hogland and Felipe Carbonari. Freshman Marc Learch and
Adria Abella then took No. 2 doubles.
Lerch added a win by retirement at No. 3 singles and Kipping added a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles over Carbonari to put the match within reach for ECU.
Alex Fillat then earned the win for the Tigers with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win over Josh Hurt at No. 2 singles.
ECU will now prepare for the GAC Championships, April 24-25 in Bentonville, Ark.
