BENTONVILLE, ARK. – The East Central University women's tennis team has advanced to the 2015 Great American Conference Championship match with a 5-4 win over Arkansas Tech in the semifinals at Memorial Park.
The Tigers (14-11) fell behind early after doubles, trailing 1-2. Senior
Bernardita Muscillo and freshman
Srijita Ghosh claimed the doubles point for ECU at No. 3 doubles. The duo earned an 8-6 win over Vandella Suico and Laura Sanchez.
The Golden Suns (17-5) added a win at No. 6 singles to take a 1-3 lead. Sophomore
Gloria Mayorga made the score 2-3 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Sanchez at No. 4 singles.

Julia Municoy then tied the match at three with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Tamara Bell at No. 1 singles.
ATU pushed the score back in their favor with a win at No. 3 singles, but the Tigers then rallied to tie the set at four. The point was won by Ghosh, with a 0-6, 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
The match then came down to Muscillo at No. 2 singles, where she defeated Bohdana Sardak 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) in a marathon match.
The Tigers will now prepare for the GAC Championship match against No. 4 Southern Nazarene, Saturday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park.
First Round Match
The No. 3 East Central University women's tennis team advanced to the 2015 Great American Conference Championship semifinals with a 5-0 win over Henderson State in the first round at the Walmart Life Center.

Gloria Mayorga, the GAC Newcomer of the Year, and senior Virginie Rodriguez earned the first point for ECU with an 8-2 win over Sara Griffin and Hannah Watson at No. 2 doubles.

Julia Municoy, an All-GAC First Team selection, and senior
Elisabeth Dignard made it 2-0 with an 8-3 win over Amanda Korinihona and Annie Shannon at No. 1 doubles.
Senior Bernardita Musicllo, an All-GAC Second Team pick, and freshman
Srijita Ghosh then gave the Tigers a 3-0 advantage with an 8-3 win over Kristen Pierce and Maddie McJunkins.
Ghosh continued her strong play for ECU in singles, putting the match within reach with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Hannah Watson at No. 5 singles.
The match-winning point then came Muscillo, at No. 2 singles, as she defeated Griffin 6-1, 6-0.
The Tigers will now get ready to face No. 2 Arkansas Tech, Friday, April 24 at approximately 6 p.m. in the semifinal round of the GAC Championship
