Tennis Set to Host Three Home Matches

Sophomore Adria Abella earned the match-winning point for ECU in 2015 against Cowley County.
ADA – The East Central University men's and women's tennis teams will combine to host three matches at Mayhue Courts this week, starting with a women's battle with Central Oklahoma, Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.  Both teams will then host Cowley County Junior College, Saturday, Feb. 20 at 10 am.

The women's team is currently 1-2 and has been idle since a loss to No. 22 Midwestern State Feb. 6.  The men are 0-3 on the season after falling to three ranked teams.

Central Oklahoma comes into the matches with a 5-2 record in 2015-16 after winning their last three outings.

When the teams met last season (Feb. 12, 2015), the Tigers claimed a 6-3 victory over the Bronchos.  ECU trailed 1-2 after doubles, but fought back during singles to earn the win.  Junior Julia Municoy ended up with the match-winning point for the Tigers, with a win at No. 1 singles.

Cowley County is 2-4 overall, with a two-match winning streak going.  In 2015, ECU defeated Cowley 7-2 (March 29).

On the men's side, Cowley County is 5-4 in 2015-16.  The teams met in 2015, with ECU earning a 6-3 win at home.  The match-winning point came from sophomore Adria Abella at No. 6 singles.
