EDMOND, OKLA. – The East Central University women's tennis team won its first match of the 2015-16 season, 5-4, over Texas-Permian Basin on a neutral court.

Junior
Julia Municoy and sophomore
Veronica Mijares earned the doubles point for ECU, taking No. 2 doubles from Andrea Villalobos and Krissy Chavez 8-2.
UTPB then took the next two points taking No. 1 and No. 6 singles for a 1-4 lead. The Tigers then came roaring back, starting with a 6-4, 6-4 win by Municoy at No. 3 singles over Shelby Greene.
Junior
Gloria Mayorga made it 3-4 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Kaleigh Smith at No. 4 singles. Sophomore
Alex Makashov tied the match at four, with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Villalobos.
The match then came down to No. 5 singles, where sophomore
Srijita Ghosh had dropped the first set 5-7.
However, Ghosh came back and took 6-4, 6-0 wins in the next two sets to claim the match for ECU.
The Tigers will return to the courts Saturday, Feb. 6 when they play their first home match of the season at Mayhue Courts. ECU will host No. 22 Midwestern State at 1 p.m.
